The basic uniform of the Rapid Response Tactical Squad is comprised of a green one-piece overall, black leather combat boots, black knee and elbow pads and an optional belt, also in black.
The overalls were made by a Czech police and military supplier based out of Prague named XENA. The overalls are a 65% polyester/35% cotton blend, in a dark green colour, made to their standard tactical police pattern (which normally comes in black). There is a hood contained within the collar, and it zips up via both legs to the neck, much akin to classic flying trousers. The side waist pockets feature both zipper and velcro closures, while the pockets on the front of the overalls only have velcro closures. A pen pocket is also present on the left arm.
They are naturally very warm due to the thickness of the material, which was a natural choice considering the locality in which the movie was filmed (downtown Prague, in an absolutely freezing set). However, the velcro used on the closures for the suits has not stood up well to use on the movie, as many of the stunt and hero overall sets have had the velcro abused to the point of uselessness with either the hook or loop sides getting worn away to nothing. Furthermore, the stitching on the velcro has come away on many sets, signs of heavy use on set.
All the overalls used on the movie had sewn in tags, denoting the set of uniform it belonged to and the scenes in which it was to be used. However, several sets including the following set used by Karl Urban as Reaper were clearly reused, with the tags for the movie scene denoting use in the sewer scenes but the overalls later being drenched in blood for use in the First Person Shooter sequence.
The pads were made by Hatch to their standard Centurion model, a conventional pad design with a hard plastic pad with soft foam padding behind it. Hatch pads are a utility brand, and have been used in a variety of films including the Resident Evil series.
The boots were made by Magnum in their Stealth range, which feature steel toe and heel caps. This is a very popular brand of boot, seeing use in a wide variety of science fiction movies and series including Stargate SG-1.
